    Product information

White charcoal is made by carbonizing wood at a relatively low temperature. Near the end of the process, the furnace temperature is raised to about 1000°C to make the redwood hot. When making white coal, it is necessary to be quite skilled in removing impurities left in coal from the furnace and quickly extinguishing it by sealing the furnace to eliminate all oxygen.

Usually people use a powder that is a mixture of sand, earth, and ash to seal the coal furnace. This is why the coal surface is white. This is where the name “white coal” comes from. The rapid increase in temperature, followed by rapid cooling, ignites the outer layer of the wood so the white charcoal has a hard-solid-min surface.

When tested by the standard coal testing techniques of the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, white coal may take a longer time to ignite, but its thermal conductivity is better than that of normal black coal. Flames produced with white coal last long enough to be used as fuel
